Addicted2Wellness FAQ: Boost Your Wellness Journey

I work with clients from a place of empathy and non-judgment. I have personal knowledge, experience, and understanding of the struggle with substance misuse and addictive behavior. I like to work collaboratively with clients as a team. I will use the client’s strengths, personal preferences, and knowledge to help them discover their goals and how they will reach them. I feel that empowering people by accepting their autonomy results in better health and wellness outcomes.

I implement motivational interviewing techniques to uncover the client’s personal motivation and use that as the impetus for change, I feel all people have unique strengths, but sometimes they don’t always see their strengths and utilize them to their benefit. I help them do that. I take a positive therapeutic approach when appropriate, which is usually effective and beneficial for most clients. I also have clients use S.M.A.R.T. goal setting to set realistic expectations for change. Just as they say in recovery, one day at a time, the same can be said for achieving life goals. Achieving one small goal a day over a longer period of time increases the likelihood of long-term success.

I can consult with people affected by the behavior of someone struggling with these issues and provide resources, suggestions, information, and general support. I can refer people to various individuals or organizations that specialize in specific areas of expertise that will further help them manage and deal with the challenges they are facing. I can also be a health and wellness coach to someone who wants to learn how to set healthy boundaries and to work on improving their relationship with a person dealing with mental health, addiction, and substance use issues.

I can conduct sessions with clients by phone, virtually, or in person if you are in the greater Seattle area. It is entirely client preference.

Once I have helped a client determine their goals and how we will work to achieve those goals, we put in place a reasonable timeline. By establishing a framework by which the client will achieve their goals, we can then decide on the frequency and length of our sessions.
